About Slow Songs For Fast Hearts
This is a blog by Katie & Melissa, who are both from New Zealand, though Melissa is currently living in London.
We write about (post-) punk, riot grrrl and its successors, no wave, pop, growing up with hip hop and whatever other genres take our fancy (generally DIY, queer & girl music dominates).
Melissa tends to ramble on about how race/gender/sexuality combine with whatever musical obsession she currently has, and Katie has a knack for finding ace videos, plus she does all the computer-y stuff.
Slow Songs For Fast Hearts began because Melissa used to do a radio show called “Pony 4 Honey” on the sadly missed free form radio station Fleet FM in Auckland, and Katie said it’d be good to put her play lists and occasional pod casts on the web. The podcasts are still here, somewhere in the archives, so if you feel like listening to Melissa’s inept, yet heartfelt dj-ing, then you still can!
